On October 6th, as a result of repatriation efforts, Ukraine managed to return the bodies (remains) of 64 fallen defenders to the territory under its control. This was announced by the Coordinating Headquarters for Prisoner of War Affairs.

In turn, the Ukrainian side handed over the bodies (remains) of combatants who had died due to armed aggression to Russia.

"The Armed Forces of Ukraine will ensure the proper and safe transportation of the repatriated bodies (remains) of the fallen defenders of Ukraine to designated state specialized institutions for transfer to law enforcement representatives and forensic experts according to established procedures, in order to organize and conduct procedural (investigative) actions and forensic examinations necessary for the identification of the deceased individuals," the statement from the headquarters reads.
