In the UK, the largest artificial intelligence safety event in the world, the AI Safety Summit, took place, attended by representatives from 29 governments, including the US, Australia, and the EU. Participants, including Ukraine, signed the Bletchley Declaration on AI Safety, which outlines government cooperation in AI safety research.
Ukraine was represented at the summit by Georgiy Dubinsky, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
"We need to follow global innovation trends. When it comes to cybersecurity, AI can both enhance system security and simplify the process of conducting cyberattacks, making them more successful. It's important to strike a balance in regulating this technology without impeding its development," said Yegor Dubinsky.
One of the main goals of the declaration is a collective agreement among countries to develop and implement risk-oriented AI regulatory policies that would prevent negative consequences. At the same time, the summit emphasized that artificial intelligence is a useful technology for economic growth and sustainable development. However, the technology cannot develop without oversight and requires established "rules of the game."
Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents enormous global opportunities: it has the potential to transform and enhance human wellbeing, peace and prosperity. To realise this, we affirm that, for the good of all, AI should be designed, developed, deployed, and used, in a manner that is safe, in such a way as to be human-centric, trustworthy and responsible.
