Ukraine has significantly changed the geography of its wheat exports in the 2025/26 marketing year

In the first two months of the 2025/26 marketing year, Ukraine exported 1.456 million tons of wheat. This is 28% lower than the same period last season, when 2.026 million tons were shipped to international markets.

According to APK-Inform, citing official statistics, almost all top importers reduced their purchases of Ukrainian wheat, except for Egypt, which nearly doubled its imports to 699,000 tons, becoming the largest buyer at the start of the new season.

Indonesia reduced wheat imports from Ukraine by 13% to 528,000 tons, Vietnam by 17% to 314,000 tons, and Algeria by 28% to 268,000 tons.

Shipments to Spain, which led in the first two months of 2024/25, fell sharply by 69% to 243,000 tons.

Exports to Yemen dropped 24% to 126,000 tons, and to Thailand by 26% to 120,000 tons.

Significant declines were also recorded in Italy (down 42% to 66,000 tons), Tunisia (down 62% to 49,000 tons), and Israel (down 33% to 48,000 tons).
