Ukraine has sent a request to the Australian government to obtain decommissioned Taipan helicopters. According to Asia Pacific Defence Reporter, currently, technical experts are secretly dismantling all 45 army multi-role Taipan helicopters and burying components at a defense facility.

"The cost of each helicopter on the secondary market is approximately $20 million, so the decision was made to quietly destroy them in the hope that no one would notice. Ironically, the 10-ton twin-engine 'Taipans' are being dismantled, not cut, because their carbon fiber construction is very strong," the material states.

However, Defense Minister Richard Marles stated that the helicopters would be disposed of in a way that maximizes their value.

The publication specifies that the Australian federal government recently received a request to transfer the helicopter data to Ukraine.

MRH-90 Taipan

The multi-role MRH-90 helicopter replaced the existing fleet of ADF Black Hawk and Sea King helicopters in Australia with increased and improved capabilities, capacities, and capabilities to meet emerging requirements. The capabilities of the MRH-90 have more built-in safety features that meet or exceed requirements and use advanced technologies, including composite materials and fly-by-wire systems, which have provided more efficient servicing.

In April, Air Force spokesperson Yuriy Ignat stated that Ukrainian helicopter pilots would like to transition from Soviet Mi-24 machines to American Apaches. This would provide a significant advantage to the military.
