Ukraine set new honey export record

For 11 months of 2020, Ukraine exported 69.8 thousand tons of honey, which is an absolute record for the Country. The total cost of the sweet product sent to different countries of the world was $ 117.5 million.

Ukraine exported a record volume of honey within 11 months of 2020. The previous record was set in 2017, it reached 67.8 thou. t ($ 133.9 mln).

The EU countries' increased demand for Ukrainian honey is driven by:

• the uncertainty caused by COVID-19 global spread, resulting in active stocks formation for the entire 2020/21;
• low honey production in the EU, the drop is estimated at 40%, as a result of adverse weather conditions.
