Ukrainian air defense downs 89 of 113 Russian drones launched overnight

On the night of September 16 (from 8:00 p.m. on September 15), the Russian forces launched an attack with 113 strike UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, and other types from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), about 70 of them being Shaheds.

The air raid was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 9:00 a.m., air defense had shot down or neutralized 89 UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, and other types over the north, south, east, and center of the country.

There were 22 strike UAV impacts recorded at six locations, and debris from downed drones fell at two locations. 

❗️In addition, around midnight, the Russian forces struck the city of Zaporizhzhia with ten MLRS rounds (reportedly Tornado-S).
