Kirovohrad Regional Hospital and the British clinic Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have signed a memorandum of cooperation under the International Medical Partnership initiative, launched by Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska. The initiative aims to develop sustainable connections between Ukrainian medical institutions and their foreign partners.

The partnership covers three areas: anesthesiology and emergency medicine, surgery and traumatology, and support in perinatology and neonatology. The parties will work to improve patient pathways for severe injuries, implement modern protocols in emergency departments, enhance diagnosis and treatment of sepsis, and advance emergency care methods.

In surgery and traumatology, the focus will be on developing modern minimally invasive techniques, early detection of critical conditions, effective trauma treatment, updating clinical protocols, and approaches to managing complicated wounds.

Collaboration in perinatology and neonatology will involve managing complex pregnancy cases, developing neonatal intensive care—including treatment of infections, acute kidney injuries, therapeutic hypothermia, and modern gynecological interventions.

This cooperation between the Ukrainian and British institutions will allow medical teams to exchange experience, implement modern clinical practices, and enhance the quality of care for patients.

Reference: The International Medical Partnership is an initiative of Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska, launched in 2023 at the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen. It is a unique example of horizontal collaboration between Ukrainian and foreign medical institutions. The initiative takes on special importance during wartime, when every action aimed at experience-sharing and development is a step toward our shared victory.

The initiative brings together Ukrainian and international medical institutions from countries including France, Poland, Sweden, Spain, the Czech Republic, Israel, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Moldova, Canada, Austria, the Netherlands, and others.

Areas of cooperation include oncology, surgery, mental health, palliative care, transplantation, neonatology, rehabilitation, and telemedicine.
