Currently, the Russians are trying to accumulate their resources in the "Siverskyi Donets-Donbas" canal, but Ukrainian military forces are counteracting this. This was reported by the spokesperson of the Operational and Tactical Group 'Luhansk' Anastasia Bobovnikova in a TV broadcast, answering questions about what is happening in Chasiv Yar and how Russia is operating there.
"Currently, the Kramatorsk direction is the calmest. Of course, assaults are ongoing, and heavy battles continue. And when we say calm, we mean it relative to other directions, where there are many more assaults. Here, the enemy is still accumulating their resources, moving personnel to the front positions. And their tactics here are to crawl through the 'Siverskyi Donets-Donbas' canal, which partially looks like a canal and partially like a pipe. And in this pipe, they are setting up shelters. They are also creating shelters in basements, in some ruined buildings, and accumulating (resources – ed.) in this way to conduct an assault," she explained.
However, according to the spokesperson, such attempts are being detected and stopped by the Ukrainian military.
When asked how the weather affects Russia's assault actions, she noted that the number of assaults has increased.
"The reason for this is that under the cover of bad weather, under the cover of the fact that FPV drones and UAVs have a hard time working in such weather, the Russians are intensifying infantry attacks. Why? Because they don't care about the personnel. That is, they are trying to use 'meat' instead of machinery because they can. Simply because they have a lot of personnel, they don't mind using them, and under the cover of bad weather, they are trying to assault us in all directions: Siverskyi, Kramatorsk, and Toretsk," Bobovnikova stated.
When asked how the current day has started in their area of responsibility, she informed that it began very difficult, just like before.
"It has already been three days of fighting in the Siverskyi direction. Just yesterday, there were 16 clashes, and the fighting is still ongoing. The enemy attempted to attack 12 times near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. And near Chasiv Yar. But in the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy is behaving much more calmly – they are accumulating their resources to continue active military actions in this direction," said the spokesperson.
In the area of responsibility of the Operational and Tactical Group 'Luhansk', the Russians use approximately 300 FPV drones daily, the spokesperson reported when asked about the intensity of the Russian drone use on their section of the front.
"In our area, the intensity is very high. In the zone of responsibility of the Joint Forces Operation 'Luhansk,' the Russians use approximately 300 FPVs every day. And this is an approximate number. Sometimes it is much higher. They have more equipment and resources, and they use them chaotically. They have more units of equipment, but of course, fewer hits. That is, the FPVs don’t make it," Bobovnikova explained.
When asked if Russia is bringing up reserves and what type of troops they are, the spokesperson confirmed that the Russians are indeed pulling up reserves.
"They promise payments to personnel and thus conduct a hidden mobilization. At this moment, we know that these are unprepared fighters. That is, they undergo some sort of training, but it is really insufficient, and they are not properly preparing their personnel. These are the kinds of reserves they are pulling up," Bobovnikova stated.
