For the first time in history, Ukraine's Defence Forces have successfully carried out an aerial evacuation of a wounded soldier directly from the front line using a heavy drone manufactured by Gurzuf Defence. The operation was conducted by specialists from the Ground Forces' Drone Forces together with soldiers of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade.
The military reported the operation, publishing video evidence and details of the mission.
The wounded infantryman from the 30th Separate Mechanised Brigade was stationed at a position where evacuation using conventional unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) was impossible due to extensive minefields and intense Russian drone activity.
As a result, the unmanned systems company of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade adapted a heavy hexacopter manufactured by Ukrainian company Gurzuf Defence for the evacuation. The company provided the drone free of charge.
Working together with engineers, the military developed a technical solution that enabled the heavy bomber drone to remain stable in flight while carrying a person, preventing it from swinging or overturning.
Following a series of tests at the manufacturer's facilities, a drone pilot from the 30th Separate Mechanised Brigade successfully completed the mission.
The operation was carried out with the assistance of the 14th Separate Mechanised Brigade and the 10th Army Corps.
The wounded soldier is now receiving medical treatment and rehabilitation.
