On October 15, 2024, Ukrainian intelligence units, including Artan, Kraken, the International Legion, and the Freedom of Russia Legion, completed a successful operation to liberate a forest area north of the village of Lyptsi in the Kharkiv region.
The operation resulted in the capture of the Russian battalion defense area and the elimination of three Russian motorized rifle battalions, the Storm detachment, and a reconnaissance company of the 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 11th Russian Army Corps.
Ukrainian forces also captured additional Russian soldiers, which could facilitate the return of Ukrainian defenders held in captivity. Following the clearance of 400 hectares of forest, the Russian forces position in this sector has significantly weakened, approaching a hopeless state.
A key feature of the mission was the deployment of the 13th National Guard Brigade Khartia with minimal losses, showcasing exceptional collaboration between special forces and a regular combat unit. This success paves the way for further advances to push Russian forces out of northern Kharkiv.
