Ukrainian marines will be led by the rector of the Odesa Military Academy, Dmytro Delyatitsky

The rector of the Odesa Military Academy, Major General Dmytro Delyatitsky, has stepped down from his position: he will head the 30th Ukrainian Marine Corps. The announcement of Delyatitsky's dismissal appeared on the Facebook page of the Odesa Military Academy.

The Major General thanked the cadets, servicemen of all ranks, as well as the teaching and scientific staff for their joint service and announced that he is leaving the academy to take up a new position.

"During our time of service together, we have come a long way from creating new educational programs, departments, and specializations to improving the infrastructure of the academy. Our efforts have helped prepare and educate the best personnel for our powerful military force. Our academy continues to be known for its graduates who demonstrate a high level of professionalism, courage, and dedication to the people of Ukraine!" he emphasized.

Dmytro Delyatitsky graduated from the General Military Department of the Odesa Institute of Ground Forces with a specialization in "Combat Use of Tank Units." After completing his studies, he served as the commander of a platoon in the 1019th Separate Mechanized Battalion of the 127th Mechanized Brigade, and later became the company commander of the same battalion. From 2004 to 2005, he served as the company commander of the 127th Separate Mechanized Battalion of the Coastal Defense Forces in Feodosia.

Later on, Delyatitsky served as an officer in the personnel management department of the Navy command, deputy commander of the 1st Separate Marine Battalion, chief of staff, first deputy, and later commander of the 81st Separate Logistics Battalion.

On August 16, 2012, he assumed command of the 1st Separate Marine Battalion, which in 2014 was surrounded by Russian forces demanding surrender. Ukrainian marines refused to comply with these demands, and Delyatitsky declared that he and all his subordinates remained faithful to the oath to the Ukrainian people. Subsequently, he was captured by Russian forces.

In 2015, Delyatitsky became the commander of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade, in 2018 he was appointed Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Marine Corps, and in 2023 he became the head of the Odesa Military Academy.
