Ukraine's seaports handled 42.4 million tonnes of cargo in the first half of 2026, surpassing last year's figures despite continued Russian attacks on port infrastructure.

According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), agricultural products accounted for the largest share of cargo throughput, reaching 23.6 million tonnes — a 20% increase compared with the first half of 2025.

At the same time, Russia has continued its systematic attacks on Ukraine's civilian port infrastructure. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, 1,002 port infrastructure facilities have been damaged or partially destroyed, 221 civilian vessels have been damaged, and 283 civilians have been injured or killed.

The USPA noted that attacks intensified significantly in July. During the first two weeks of the month alone, Russian forces carried out 23 strikes on Ukrainian ports and 17 attacks on civilian vessels.
