Ukrzaliznytsia is interested in purchasing passenger wagons from Siemens Group and Pesa Group. These companies already received a commercial offer from the Ukranian railways State company.

As suppliers of passenger cars, Ukrzaliznytsia considers not only the domestic Kryukovsky Carriage Works, but also foreign companies like Siemens or Pesa. Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, head of the Passenger service and Member of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, spoke about this in an interview with CFTS.

We sent out a commercial offer to potential suppliers both in Ukraine and abroad. KVSZ, Kharkov Carriage Works, Siemens, Pesa, Belarusian car builders.

For this year, UAH 4.2 billion has been allocated (for the passenger sector). This is less than initially declared; at the last moment, the deputies revised the amount. Due to the fact that the amount of funding has changed, now, accordingly, has changed and the number. Expectedly it will be 84-85 cars of different types.

If in the middle of the year there are different dynamics in different areas of the programme, we will apply for a redistribution in favour of, for example, increasing the number of cars. But this is a decision of the budget funds manager, that is the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

At the same time, the manager noted that in order to attract investments from large international players to launch local production in Ukraine, you need to have a programme for 3-5 years with a clear understanding that during this time the state will finance the purchase of a certain number of cars annually.

This is an understandable prospect for any manufacturer. And this will be an incentive for international car-building companies to undertake large-scale projects under our 1520 track gauge, they will begin to localize their production, real competition and joint ventures will appear, local suppliers will become more active. All this will stimulate our manufacturers as well. invest in new solutions. I am sure that when they have something to fight for, they will be able to adequately accept this challenge.

As for the delivery time for the cars in 2021, Oleksandr Pertsovsky expressed hope that this could happen in the middle of the 3rd quarter. “I would very much like to be in time for the Independence Day,” said the top manager of Ukrzaliznytsia.
