Cybersecurity experts of the Security Service of Ukraine have exposed another Russian informant who was spying on the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces bases in the Kirovohrad region.

Among his top priorities were the deployment points of Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense complexes. The informant was also interested in the coordinates of storage facilities containing weapons and ammunition belonging to Ukrainian defenders.

The information he obtained was transmitted to several Russian Telegram channels that coordinate the intelligence services of the Russian Federation to gather intelligence on the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Additionally, the Russian informant wanted to join the private military company "Wagner" and fight against Ukraine at the onset of full-scale war. However, SSU operatives acted preemptively, timely exposing the perpetrator and systematically documenting his criminal activities.

The prompt response of the Security Service allowed for the thwarting of the aggressor's plans to obtain intelligence, and the Russian informant was detained in his own residence.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator turned out to be an ideological supporter of racism. This year, he began voluntarily leaking information about the Armed Forces to hostile internet resources.

To collect intelligence, the perpetrator would visit areas where he covertly observed military infrastructure objects. To conceal his reconnaissance activities, the perpetrator frequently changed SIM cards of mobile operators.

During searches at the perpetrator's place of residence, communication devices with evidence of criminal activity were seized. Currently, SBU investigators have informed him of suspicion under Article 114-2, Part 2, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the direction, movement of weapons, armaments, and ammunition into Ukraine, the movement or placement of the Armed Forces).

The perpetrator is in custody without the right to post bail and faces up to 8 years in prison.
