On the evening of January 31, the Russian Federation launched a missile strike on the historic center of Odesa, damaging cultural buildings. UNESCO has already responded, condemning the attack.

This was reported by UNESCO Ukraine.

"UNESCO condemns the missile attack on the historic centre of Odesa last night, a World Heritage site, severely damaging at least two cultural buildings placed under UNESCO Conventions’ protection," the statement reads.

The published post emphasizes that these repeated attacks must stop and that international law must be upheld.

"Our team is already at work to promptly support the urgent documentation of damage and identify with the Ukrainian authorities the required emergency interventions," the Facebook post adds.

UNESCO also announced that a mission will be sent in the near future.
