President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a delegation of the Progressive Slovakia political party led by Michal Šimečka.
The Head of State emphasized that Ukrainians are grateful to the people of Slovakia for their support and assistance in the fight against Russian aggression.
“We are very grateful to all the people of Slovakia for everything you have done for our people, for your attitude towards Ukrainians. Thank you for supporting our sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.
The President highlighted Ukraine's readiness for a serious dialogue with Slovakia, particularly on energy security and finding practical solutions for energy supply options.
“We are ready to help the Slovak people in ensuring their energy stability and security. It is very important for us to hear a signal from the Slovak people that you will also support Ukrainians on our path to the EU and NATO. This is a key issue for us because of the war, because of the security guarantees that are very important for us,” the Head of State noted.
In the war unleashed by Russia, Ukrainians are fighting for the future not only of their country, but also of all of Europe. And now it is important to continue putting pressure on the aggressor state by all possible means to force it to establish a just and lasting peace.
Special attention was paid to the support for Ukraine on its path to the EU and NATO and the issue of security guarantees.
Michal Šimečka thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people for their courage in defending their homeland and all of Europe.
“Many people in Slovakia greatly appreciate this. They are praying for Ukraine – safe, sovereign, living in peace and as part of the European Union,” he said.
Michal Šimečka also stressed the importance of Ukraine's EU membership and the strengthening of Ukrainian-Slovak relations.
