The presence of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region is a way to compensate for the deficit in long-range capabilities.

This was reported in the evening address of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky noted that the aftermath of the Russian strike on Ukraine is still being addressed. In total, the occupiers launched over 120 missiles of various types and more than 100 Shaheds.

He pointed out that the missile launch areas targeting Ukraine included the airspace of the Kursk and Belgorod regions, other border regions of Russia, as well as the Black Sea.

"Each such strike repeatedly brings us back to the issue of long-range capabilities. To the necessity of providing our Defense Forces with sufficient long-range weapons that can eliminate the terrorists exactly where they are launching their attacks from," said the president.

According to him, "this is the optimal anti-terrorist tactic that every one of our partners, from whom we expect decisions on long-range capabilities, would have the right to employ and would definitely use for their own defense."

"And the physical presence of our forces in the Kursk region, our active actions to eliminate the Russian threat on its own territory, is among other things a way to compensate for the deficit in long-range capabilities," Zelensky emphasized.

The head of state also mentioned a meeting today with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. They discussed the response to today's missile strike and the response to Russia, the use of F-16s, and the operation in the Kursk region.

"Regarding the operation in the Kursk region, we are continuing our actions in designated areas exactly as Ukraine needs. Today, we have more control and have added to the exchange fund," the president said.
