Ukrainian Air Force warriors have successfully destroyed an enemy long-range radar detection aircraft A-50 and an enemy command and control airbase Il-22.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, announced this on Telegram.

"Warriors of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have successfully destroyed an enemy long-range radar detection aircraft A-50 and an enemy command and control airbase Il-22," stated the announcement.

Zaluzhnyi expressed gratitude to the Air Force for the well-planned and executed operation in the Azov region.

Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the destruction of the enemy A-50 and Il-22M.

"Thanks to everyone who planned, organized, and directly participated in the operation to destroy the occupiers' aircraft! There's definitely no room left on the deck of the 'Moskva' aircraft carrier. We continue the series 'Eternal Flight, Brothers,'" he wrote on Telegram.

As reported, on the evening of January 14, information began to circulate through Telegram channels about the downing of a Russian long-range radar detection and control aircraft A-50 and the damage to the enemy's Il-22M jet bomber by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were over the Azov Sea.

The Il-22M intended to land in Anapa (Krasnodar Krai, Russia). The pilot requested evacuation. According to some data, the aircraft disappeared from radars in the Kerch area.
