During his visit to the U.S., President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, as well as Senator Bob Casey and Congressman Matt Cartwright.
During the meeting, they discussed prospects for cooperation between Ukraine and the United States at the regional level.
“I thank the leaders of American states for their willingness to develop regional cooperation with Ukraine. The implementation of joint economic projects will help restore the destroyed infrastructure and create jobs,” the President noted.
In the presence of Volodymyr Zelensky, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, and Josh Shapiro signed an agreement on cooperation between the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The agreement provides for interaction between government bodies, scientific institutions, civil society organizations, and businesses. Key areas of focus include energy, agriculture, digital technologies, and defense. The agreement will also contribute to the reconstruction of the Zaporizhzhia region.
Over 150,000 Ukrainians and Americans of Ukrainian descent reside in Pennsylvania.
“There are also weapons and military equipment manufacturing facilities here. This direction is an absolute priority for Ukraine. We would be grateful for enhanced cooperation in this area,” the President emphasized.
So far, five agreements have been signed between Ukrainian regions and American states. Earlier, such documents were signed between Kyiv Region and Washington State, between Kyiv Region and Utah, between Zhytomyr Region and Indiana, and between Chernihiv Region and Minnesota.
