Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Maguchykh won the fifth stage of the Diamond League in Stockholm (Sweden).

The 19-year-old athlete took a height of 2.03 m, which was the best result of the season in the world. Yaroslava Maguchykh tried to conquer the height of 2.07 m, but the attempt was unsuccessful. Her success should not be considered a sensation, because the Ukrainian has been progressing rapidly for several years, taking titles and setting records.

I am very happy because 2.03 is my best result this season. I also tried 2.07, was close to overcoming this height, but not today. Before the Olympics, I will have another start: the European Youth Championship. I think I can try this height again. I am waiting for Tokyo 2020, there is only a month left. The competition will be interesting because most girls have results of two meters and above. I hope I will be able to win a medal because all athletes want one at the Olympic Games

Yaroslava was born in the Dnipro. Now, she is a first-year student of the Dnipro Higher School of Physical Culture, her coach: Tatiana Stepanova. At age 15, Maguchykh won the U-18 Women's World Championships and the European Youth Festival. A year later, the European U-18 Championship and the Youth Olympic Games.

This season, Yaroslava won gold in Europe U-20 at the age of 17 and won the Diamond League stage in Doha (the youngest winner of the stage in the history of athletics). On September 19, she turned 18 and in less than two weeks she became the second at the adult world championship with a fantastic result: 2.04 m.

As you can see, the Ukrainian's career is developing rapidly. At the same time, Yaroslava herself remains a modest and constantly smiling girl. She says that now at the age of 18 sports are in the first place for her. That's why training and competitions take up all the time. Well, a little more time goes to study. According to her, over the past year she has significantly improved her English and basic subjects for passing the external examination. Sports goal №1 - to become an Olympic champion. At the end of her career, the athlete plans to become a coach. And he is skeptical about proposals to become a model.
