In 2024, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 392 significant Russian military targets, according to UA War Infographics.
These included 236 bases, 76 fuel storage facilities, and 71 ammunition depots.
Ukrainian troops regularly strike with precision missiles, multiple rocket launch systems (like HIMARS), and fixed-wing drones. Drones often operate in "waves," with one group diverting and exhausting Russian air defense systems, while another breaks through to target fuel depots, ammunition stores, and airfields.
The highest number of bases and fuel targets were hit in June (59) and July (43). Although lower in January and February, the total damage still remains substantial, with 40 bases and 10 fuel sites destroyed.
The most powerful and notable attack was in September, targeting an ammunition depot in Toropets. The SSU destroyed stocks of artillery shells and Iskander and Tochka-U missiles. Satellite images revealed massive destruction, and the explosion was so strong that the Norwegian agency NORSAR recorded a magnitude 2.8 earthquake.
According to Estonian intelligence, Russia lost a stockpile of ammunition intended for two to three months. The effects of these operations are especially felt in Russia's border regions, where fuel shortages and difficulties in repairing damaged equipment are reported. Additionally, production at Russian oil refineries has dropped to its lowest level in 12 years.
