During the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2025) in Rome, a series of bilateral memorandums of cooperation between Ukrainian and Italian communities are planned to be signed as part of the “Twinning Across Borders” initiative.
This was reported to Ukrinform by the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy (NCUAI).
“As of June 20, 2025, the NCUAI has signed cooperation memorandums with six regional administrations and councils of Ukraine: Rivne, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, and Cherkasy. We actively work with 47 Ukrainian communities, over 20 of which already have Italian partners at various stages of project implementation,” said Lara Levchun, president of the congress.
The announcement notes that six initiatives have already confirmed interest in signing bilateral memorandums specifically during URC2025. These are the cities of Slavutych, Truskavets, Starosambir, Trostianets, Romny, and Bar.
“Ukrainian communities are preparing the relevant draft documents and will submit them for approval to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, while the Italian side is working on the final wording of the agreements,” the congress added.
The “Twinning Across Borders” initiative is being implemented based on memorandums signed between the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy and Ukrainian local government bodies. Its goal is to establish sustainable partnerships for reconstruction, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation.
The international URC2025 conference on recovery issues will be held in Rome on July 10-11.
