In Odessa, rescuers found the bodies of five people in the flooded basement of a private residential building.
This was reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Odessa region.
“Rescuers were pumping water from the basement of a private residential building, where they discovered the bodies of five people: two men, two women, and a child,” the rescue service’s press office said.
Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, specified that in Serhiy Eisenstein Lane, the bodies of two men, two women, and a girl approximately eight years old were found. Their identities are being established.
Two more bodies were found on Balkivska Street: an unidentified woman aged 55–65 and a local resident born in 1987. On Dacha Kovalevskoho Street, the body of a woman born in 1968 was found, and on Rybalska Street, the body of a missing 23-year-old woman was discovered.
Kiper also reported cases of hypothermia among people due to prolonged exposure to water. The injured are receiving medical assistance.
As of October 1, 42,000 customers in 32 settlements of Odessa region remain without electricity due to the severe weather, according to DTEK Odesa Electric Networks.
“As of 08:00 on October 1, 42,000 customers in 32 towns and villages are temporarily without power,” the company stated.
Over the past day, energy workers restored electricity to 112,000 households in 188 settlements across Odessa region. The company added that the most critical situation is in Odessa city.
