Spokesperson of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major Andrii Kovalev, said that in May 2026 the overall effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defense in intercepting missiles and drones remained consistently high at over 88%.
He made the statement during a briefing titled “The use of Russian air attack means against civilian infrastructure: technical and humanitarian aspects.”
“Despite the unprecedented intensity of air raids in the spring of 2026, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine demonstrate consistently high effectiveness at the level of 88–90%. According to the results of May 2026, the overall effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense in intercepting missiles and drones remained at a stable high level of over 88%,” he said.
According to him, during the month the Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed a large number of Russian aerial weapons — more than 57,000 air targets.
