Alexandr Kochetkov: Kremlin plan for Ukraine’s ‘soft capitulation’ restricts diplomatic aircraft from Ukrainian soil

I’ve found an “interesting detail” in the cynical Russian‑American plan to force the victim of aggression into a soft capitulation.

The territorial losses for Ukraine are well known — much has been written about this. Next, most analysts focus on the fact that, according to the wishes of the Russian state, Ukraine must reduce the size of its Armed Forces to 250,000 and also abandon the development and acquisition of medium‑range ballistic and cruise missiles.

All of this supposedly looks like Russia’s fear that once hostilities stop, Ukraine will accumulate forces and strike capability and begin liberating the occupied territories by force. But in fact, the leaked Russia–US plan contains one clause that fully exposes the aggressor’s real intentions.

It is the prohibition on basing diplomatic aircraft of other countries on the territory of Ukraine. Not just military bases and armed formations, but a separate clause specifically about diplomatic aircraft!

This only makes sense in one scenario — if Russia already plans to resume its aggression against Ukraine in a year or two. Such a renewed assault would, of course, begin with air and drone‑missile strikes, including against our airfields. And the presence of foreign diplomatic aircraft at these airfields would seriously complicate Russia’s future aggression. Because with Russia’s “high precision,” such aircraft would almost certainly be destroyed or damaged — and they are considered the territory of the state under whose flag they fly. Meaning, if one wished, such an incident could be interpreted as an attack on that country: the US, the UK, France — whichever state the diplomatic plane belongs to.

The Russian State is so unwilling to face any complications when resuming its aggression against Ukraine that it is preparing in advance — adding a clause banning the basing of diplomatic aircraft on Ukrainian territory into the plan of Ukraine’s “soft capitulation.”
