First Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Serhii Kyslytsia met with American blogger and journalist Laura Loomer. After an extended discussion, they visited the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where a Russian drone struck the Dormition Cathedral a month ago.

“It was interesting to speak with Laura Loomer and then visit the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. To see firsthand – although not for the first time for me – how Putin targets the heart of Christianity leaves an extremely powerful and important impression. I thank Laura Loomer for her initiative and for visiting Ukraine at this time,” Kyslytsia said.

The American journalist arrived in Kyiv several days ago. On social media, she shared several videos, including footage of the Dormition Cathedral damaged by Russian shelling.

“You cannot look people in the eye and seriously claim that you are defending Christianity while launching drone strikes on Ukraine’s oldest monastery and literally trying to hit Jesus Christ with a Shahed drone. I wanted to show this because we are being flooded with Russian propaganda, but I firmly believe that you cannot claim to defend Christianity while attempting to strike Jesus Christ with a drone,” Loomer said.

On the night of June 15, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine, during which a Russian drone hit the Dormition Cathedral, causing a fire.

“Putin constantly portrays Russia as some kind of defender of Christianity. He likes to present himself this way, claiming that Russia is trying to ‘denazify’ Ukraine and that it had to invade Ukraine to make it even more part of its Christian empire. If you talk so much about Christianity, why use a drone against the oldest monastery in Ukraine? Why did you do this?” Loomer said.
