An attempt was made to illegally export a Stradivarius violin from Ukraine. Border guards found the musical instrument in the trunk of a car at the checkpoint with Romania.

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

The violin is marked as "Antonius Stradiuarius Cremomentis Faciebad Anno 1713" and likely holds historical value. It has been sent for examination.

Border guards did not disclose further details but published a photo of the passport of an unknown woman, presumably the individual who attempted to export the violin.
