On August 11, Ukraine initiated bilateral consultations on 'security assurances' with the United Kingdom.
The head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, announced this during the 'Yedini Novyny' telethon. He mentioned that 13 countries have already joined the 'security assurances' declaration of the G7 in support of Ukraine. Furthermore, as he reminded, Ukraine has already begun bilateral consultations regarding assurances with the United States.
"Indeed, after our American colleagues, we initiated (consultations) with our friends and partners from the United Kingdom. This country, with its significant assistance, is one of our key and strategic partners," said Yermak.
"Today, an important conversation has indeed taken place. We can already say that such consultations have been initiated with the United Kingdom," added the head of the President's Office.
He noted that the goal now is to have the first bilateral agreements with countries that will provide security assurances to Ukraine by the end of the year.
As known, the G7 countries agreed on a framework document on 'security assurances' for Ukraine at the NATO Summit in Vilnius. While the specific parameters of the 'security assurances' were not finalized, the framework was agreed upon, and specific bilateral agreements will be signed later.
