The organizers of the Ukrainian Games Festival have announced the dates for the third Ukrainian games festival on Steam. According to them, this year's event will also feature announcements of new Ukrainian projects.
“We are excited to announce that the Ukrainian Games Festival 2024 will take place on Steam from August 19 to 26!” — said the organizers from GTP Media, who are hosting the event as part of the Ukrainian Games initiative.
In addition to the announcements of Ukrainian games, Steam users can look forward to a major festival sale, a demo showcase, and numerous exclusive news and materials. The third UGF will feature over 430 projects.
The festival organizers also announced a fundraising campaign to collect 1.6 million UAH for 50 FPV drones for the needs of the GUR units.
“Among the prizes are flags signed by Kyrylo Budanov, exclusive t-shirts with GUR and Ukrainian Games branding, and the chance to name the drones yourself. You can even name the drones after Nier: Automata!” — the announcement stated.
Last year, the organizers secured support from Valve, and the Ukrainian Games Festival 2023 was attended by over 1.3 million Steam users. This helped the participants, most of whom are independent developers, reach a larger audience.
It’s worth noting that Ukrainian gamers previously expressed outrage at the appearance of the Games from Russia 2024 festival on the Steam platform, organized by Blackbalance Games. Accusations were directed at the American company Valve, owner of Steam, of tolerating Russian products and even supporting the genocide of the Ukrainian people perpetrated by Russia for the past three years.
