Attempted piracy by Russia

The Naval Forces of Ukraine commented on the situation in the north-western part of the Black Sea and the messages disseminated by the Russian Federation in the form of coastal messages. From the statement on March 19.

We will remind, earlier it became known that the Russian Federation mined sea routes from the Bosphorus to Odessa and reported that it is the Ukrainian mines. In particular, the document of the captain of the Sochi seaport Vyacheslav Rumyantsev states that the Ukrainian Navy allegedly planted anchor mines on the approaches to their ports of Odessa, Ochakiv, Chornomorsk and Yuzhny – but because of the storm they broke away and now pose a threat to shipping in the north-west sea.

This sea area is Ukraine’s area of responsibility. According to current international law, only our country has the right to disseminate relevant communications in this area.

They added that the notification is provided through the station “NAVTEX Odessa”, which is the only legitimate source of information.

Another attempt at sea and information piracy at sea by Russia, which spreads misinformation through its radio stations “NAVTEX” is only a confirmation of the well-known and proven thesis that Russia is an occupying country, which is once again trying to occupy not only the land territory of Ukraine but also the waters Black and Azov Seas.

They also expressed surprise at Russia’s appeal to the 1907 Hague Convention on the Establishment of Submarines, which automatically detonate from contact with mines, which Russia, like tsarist Russia, did not sign or ratify.
