Audio guides in Ukrainian have been launched at the archaeological park of Pompeii, the site of the ancient Roman city destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 79 AD, and at the Museum of Church Heritage in Vilnius.
This was reported by Olena Zelenska on Facebook.
Two more museums around the world have introduced Ukrainian-language audio guides. Currently, there are 95 such audio guides in 50 countries as part of the global project to promote the Ukrainian language at world heritage sites.
The latest additions to the project include the archaeological park of Pompeii in Naples, Italy, and the Museum of Church Heritage (Bažnytinio paveldo muziejus) in Vilnius, Lithuania, where Ukrainian audio guides are now available.
"The monument to a whole city and its people who perished with it. The Pompeii archaeological park (the site of the ancient Roman city destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 79 AD) is not a museum associated with the word 'entertainment.' It's about the death of people, no matter how long ago they lived. This resonates especially for Ukraine, as today it’s not blind nature but the evil human will of Russia that is destroying entire cities and their people," shared the First Lady.
