The scenario of the collapse of the Russian Federation or the separation of some of its territories should not be ruled out, one should be prepared for this, Ben Hodges noted.

"Vladimir Putin's successor as president of Russia will not be able to outdo the current Kremlin leader. Whoever comes to power in the Russian Federation, it will not be worse." This was stated by Ben Hodges in an interview with the editor-in-chief of the Gordon media Alesya Batsman.

"Whoever comes after Putin can't get any worse. Sometimes we hear people say the next guy could be even scarier. I highly doubt it. He could be the same, but I don't think anyone- it can outdo Putin in terms of lost lives and destruction,” said the former commander of US forces in Europe.

Hodges noted that the scenario of the collapse of the Russian Federation or the separation of some of its territories should not be ruled out, and one should be prepared for this.

"There will be some republics that want to stay connected to Russia, and there will always be Russia itself, but on the other hand, there are Chechnya and other republics that do not want to stay with Russia and will be the first to seize the chance after its defeat," he said.

Hodges warned that the West should think about the consequences of the massive influx of refugees regarding the control of nuclear weapons and energy infrastructure.

"The United States or other countries should not try to influence the collapse of Russia. But we certainly must prepare for the consequences," said the retired American general.
