In the northern part of Kharkiv region, Russian forces have gradually expanded their foothold on the western bank of the Oskil River. The objective is Kupiansk.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom on X (formerly Twitter).
The report emphasizes that the foothold was initially established at the end of November 2024, and since then, Russian forces have achieved tactical successes in this area.
According to British intelligence, Russia's goal in this area is the village of Dvorichna, where fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces is ongoing. Russia also aims to capture the village of Zakhidne, located 4 km west of Oskil.
"Russia is almost certainly attempting to apply pressure to the logistics hub of Kupiansk, also located on the Oskil river, approximately 12 km southu of the bridgehead. Russian forces already control the supply ine east and south of the city, and are ikely attempting to take control over nothern supply routes into the city," stated the UK Ministry of Defense.
