British intelligence notes that Ukraine's attack on the Russian drone manufacturing plant in Tatarstan demonstrates the ability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to penetrate deep into Russia. The Ministry of Defense of Great Britain reported this on the social media platform X, citing intelligence data.
The intelligence reminds that on April 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the plant in Tatarstan, located approximately 800 miles (over 1200 km) from the Ukrainian border. The plant has been operating since July 2023 and is known for producing Iranian drones of the Shahed type, which Russia uses for attacks on Ukraine.
The regional head of Tatarstan later stated in his statement that "no one will protect us except ourselves."
"This attack once again confirms the ability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to penetrate deep into Russia, bypass Russian air defense, and identify any objects used for war," believe British intelligence.
The summary notes that the comments of the head of the Tatarstan region likely "reflect fear of such attacks."
"It is quite likely that the Ministry of Defense of Russia is trying to protect such objects and, perhaps, is balancing the risks for objects where civilians work, in order to focus attention primarily on the front line, where the tactics of using Ukrainian drones and the frequency of such attacks continue to create problems for Russian forces," the summary states.
