Russian forces are intensifying shelling of border districts in Sumy region, increasingly using combat aviation.
This was reported on live TV by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service.
“When speaking about the direction of Sumy region, there is quite active use of aviation, from which the enemy drops GAB guided bombs and strikes with unguided air-launched missiles. At the same time, besides targeting positions of Ukrainian defenders, the enemy also carries out targeted strikes on populated areas,” Demchenko noted.
According to him, the most vulnerable remain the Yunakivska and Khotinska communities, where shelling occurs almost daily.
Demchenko emphasized that the enemy does not use armored vehicles to breach the border here.
“The enemy cannot advance deep into Ukrainian territory—thanks to the resilience and heroism of Ukrainian defenders, including units of the Armed Forces and the State Border Guard Service. Infantry groups that the enemy tries to send onto our territory are actively destroyed,” added the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service.
