The British Army is preparing its troops to operate strike FPV drones at a new UAV operator training center.

According to British media, during recent exercises at the Fingeringeou range, British soldiers refined their drone piloting skills, focusing on the use of FPV drones as part of a shift towards new combat tactics. They explored the potential of drones on the battlefield and practiced their use in various combat scenarios.

"An infantry unit equipped with FPV UAS can fly them to attack targets that it would otherwise have to call in mortars, artillery, or an air strike to hit," says Sergeant Adam Barnes from 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment (2 PARA)t.

At the same time, military personnel noted the challenges of mastering the new technology. Senior Corporal Morgan McConnell of the 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment mentioned that operating FPV drones is significantly more complex than managing the British reconnaissance drones from Parrot.

"Flying drones is something that I enjoy, and it’s been a different skill to develop," McConnell noted.
