Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, over 210,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Canada.

This is according to data from the Canadian Border Services Agency.

It is noted that under the Canadian-Ukrainian Emergency Travel Authorization (CUAET) programme, created in March of last year, 210,178 Ukrainians have arrived in Canada. The programme grants Ukrainians fleeing the war the right to urgently receive a three-year work and residence permit in Canada, as well as financial assistance and temporary free settlement.

In total, the Canadian government received nearly 1.2 million applications for this visa, of which over 936,000 have already been approved. The acceptance of new applications for this programme has been closed, and visa holders must arrive in Canada by the end of March to avail themselves of it.

It is worth recalling that in the summer of 2023, Canada announced the discontinuation of this temporary program. However, the government later approved a new migration program, allowing certain categories of Ukrainian refugees to stay in Canada permanently.
