Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, over 298,000 Ukrainian asylum seekers have arrived in Canada.

This is according to data from the Canada Border Services Agency.

Under the "Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel" (CUAET) programme, created in March of the previous year, 298,128 Ukrainians have arrived in Canada so far. This programme grants Ukrainians fleeing the war the right to quickly obtain a three-year permit for work and residence in Canada, financial assistance, and temporary free housing. Overall, the Canadian government has received nearly 1.2 million applications for this visa and has approved more than 960,000.

Although the acceptance of new applications for participation in CUAET was stopped last summer, Canada has created a new immigration programme that allows certain categories of Ukrainian asylum seekers to stay in the country permanently.
