Odessa football club during the winter break in the championship of Ukraine strengthened with an experienced central defender.
Jan Douglas Bergqvist (Doug Bergqvist) is 28 years old, has experience playing in the English football leagues, and with the Swedish club Östersund, Doug won the national cup.
The last club before moving south at Bergqvist is Kalmar FF from the city of the same name. There, the central defender played 39 matches, scored one goal and gave one assist.
Douglas is a powerful right-hander (185 centimeters tall) who, in addition to his position in the center of defense, can close the zone of the defensive midfielder.
The head coach of Odessa team, Roman Grigorchuk, showed in previous years how he can adapt defenders of this type to Ukrainian football.
The second acquisition, designed to strengthen the defense of the sailors, is 29-year-old Artem Sukhotskyi, who can play both on the left flank and in the center of defense. Artem’s last club in the UPL is Desna Chernihiv. Sukhotsky also played in Ukraine for Zorya Luhansk and FC Oleksandria.
The European career of the newcomer was 0successful. As part of Slovan Bratislava, Artem is the champion and winner of the Slovak Cup. A serious appendage to 51 matches, three goals and nine assists. With FC Zorya Luhansk and ŠK Slovan Bratislava, Sukhotskyi is a member of the group stage of the Europe League.
