Russian forces on the Orikhiv axis (Zaporizhzhia region) are reportedly filling out assault companies with mobilized servicemen and preparing attacks aimed at entering the village of Stepove, Southern Defence Forces spokesman Vladyslav Voloshyn said.
According to Voloshyn, Ukrainian intelligence has observed that Russian forces preparing for assaults are currently receiving personnel reinforcements.
“Our intelligence indicates that it is precisely on the Orikhiv direction that Russian units preparing for storming actions are being re-completed,” he said. “For this, the Russian forces are using mobilized servicemen who refused to sign contracts for service in the Russian army.”

Voloshyn said the tactical goal of the anticipated offensive is to break into Stepove, push Ukrainian units out, and consolidate on seized positions. He described how Russian forces bring these assault groups to forward positions and move weapons forward to assemble small teams of five to seven fighters at designated points.
“These groups will be used in assault actions near the settlement of Stepove,” the spokesman added.
He also noted that Russian forces used aviation several days ago to strike Ukrainian fortifications and positions in the Stepove area. Preparatory measures for renewed storming operations are continuing, signaling an elevated threat level in the sector.
Ukrainian commanders and local units are monitoring Russian movements and taking measures to strengthen defences around Stepove as intelligence and reconnaissance efforts continue.
