Defence Intelligence: Moscow is attempting to discredit Ukraine in Egypt

Russia has intensified its campaign to discredit Ukraine in the Middle East, particularly in Egypt.

This information comes from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.

According to intelligence reports, the objectives of the Kremlin's hybrid operation include:

• Justifying its aggressive war.

• Discrediting Ukraine and Western states.

• Imposing unacceptable conditions for negotiations.

• Improving its own position in the region.

• Reducing economic and political pressure resulting from its aggression and commission of war crimes.

The Main Intelligence Directorate notes that Russia is utilizing its agent network, propaganda, and diplomatic missions for these purposes.

Russian embassy personnel in Egypt have reportedly received instructions from the Kremlin to conduct a series of meetings under diplomatic cover to spread disinformation about the war and recruit agents.

Additionally, Russians are distributing propaganda materials to other embassies in Cairo, justifying the war against Ukraine. These materials include two papers titled "On the Role of the West in the Conflict in Ukraine" and "On the Situation around Ukraine." They present Putin's version of Ukrainian history, portraying Russia as the victim.

The key idea promoted by the Kremlin in the Middle East is the inevitability of its proposed scenario for ending the war, which includes depriving Ukraine of Western military assistance, ceasing hostilities by Ukrainian security and defense forces, maintaining Moscow's control over the occupied Ukrainian territories, and other unrealistic proposals such as "eternal non-block status," "denazification," and "demilitarization."
