Russia is trying to strengthen control over the information space in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. For this, Moscow has allocated additional funding.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on Telegram.
"In order to strengthen control over the information space inside Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the aggressor state has allocated additional funding to 'Roskomnadzor'," intelligence officials emphasized.
According to Intelligence Agency, Roskomnadzor (The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media, abbreviated as Roskomnadzor) is to create a new "data processing center" and modernize server capacities.
This step, according to Russia's plans, is intended to increase the effectiveness of tracking "undesirable" content to completely cut off the population from truthful information.
Main Directorate of Intelligence notes that the Russians are also trying to control the information space in the occupied territories through more than 2,500 websites for occupation administrations and other so-called "government bodies." These resources are created based on the Russian Gosweb platform, which is used to develop websites for Russian government agencies.
