Russian forces are using basements for the accumulation of personnel and logistical support in the city of Vovchansk, Kharkiv region.
This was stated by the spokesperson of the Operational-Tactical Group Kharkiv, Pavlo Shamshyn, during a TV broadcast.
"Vovchansk is a fairly large city, a significant agglomeration, with both enterprises and numerous residential buildings. Every enterprise, like residential buildings, has large basements. The Russians are trying to equip and use them for their purposes. Primarily for the accumulation of personnel and logistical support," Shamshyn reported.
The spokesperson assured that the Defense Forces are taking many measures to counter the Russian troops.
"I wouldn't go into details about what exactly we're doing, as the enemy shouldn't know how we are destroying them, but I'll say this: in these basements, in these underground communications, the Russians often meet their death," he emphasized.
According to Shamshyn, the warm weather allows the Russian forces to keep their personnel on the front lines for longer periods.
"Earlier, when moving toward the front line, the Russians had to carry a lot of heating equipment with them, but now they can replace that with weapons, additional ammunition, water, food, medicine, and so on," the spokesperson added.
He also mentioned that the warming weather is affecting the movement of equipment.
"We can all see that the ground has softened. In these conditions, it's not just difficult to drive; it's hard even to walk. Imagine how difficult it is to move if mud sticks to your shoes, and consider that every infantryman is equipped. It’s very challenging, and we have to take all of this into account in such weather conditions," Shamshyn explained.
