During February, the sapper units of the State Emergency Service, the State Special Transport Service, and non-governmental operators surveyed over 32,000 hectares of agricultural land. In total, since the beginning of the year, 53,700 hectares of land have been surveyed. This was reported by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko, referring to the State Emergency Service.

"February is the shortest month of the year. However, this did not prevent our sappers from surveying almost one and a half times more agricultural land than in January. To some extent, this was facilitated by the weather, but mostly it is the result of joint efforts to enhance the capabilities of units and organize work. As a result, over 53,700 hectares of surveyed land in two months is a significant contribution of sappers to the beginning of the new agricultural season," said Yulia Sviridenko.

The largest areas of agricultural land surveyed in the first two months of the year were in the Kherson region – 49,800 hectares. In the Mykolaiv region, 2,200 hectares were surveyed, and in the Kharkiv region, 1,300 hectares. Lands in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv regions were also surveyed.

As noted by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy, the Government continues to work on enhancing the capabilities of operators, focusing primarily on equipping units with domestic technology and gear. Optimization and effective organization of demining processes are also on the agenda.

"We recently signed an agreement with the technological company Palantir. Advanced big data analysis and AI technologies will help us better organize processes in the field of demining. Last week, together with the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining, we held a workshop to develop an operational plan for the National Mine Action Strategy. Our international partners, relevant Ukrainian state bodies, and operators were invited to work together. So, we continue to work together to accelerate the clearance of Ukrainian territory," said Yulia Sviridenko
