Ukraine’s Defense Forces will receive 3 million FPV drones by the end of the year, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

“The role of unmanned systems on the battlefield is growing, so the production of innovative tools of warfare is our number one priority. By the end of this year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive 3 million FPV drones, which is almost 2.5 times more than the number delivered to the Armed Forces last year,” he wrote.

The minister noted that the vast majority of drones already in the arsenal of Ukrainian troops are domestically produced.

“This year, 2.4 million FPV drones were supplied to the military by the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Most of them were delivered under direct contracts with manufacturers. Another 200,000 UAVs were received by the military through the DOT-Chain Defence IT system, which was launched at the end of July,” Shmyhal said.

He also noted that the arsenal of Ukrainian troops has been reinforced with more ground robotic systems. Nearly 15,000 of them have been supplied to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine this year, “several times more than last year,” the minister emphasized.

According to Shmyhal, ground robotic systems are used for logistics, evacuation, reconnaissance, mine-laying and demining, and patrol missions. Some of these ground robots are equipped with combat modules and are used in assault and defensive operations.
