Dmytro Kuleba: Ukraine needs frozen Russian assets, not a frozen conflict

The world should move towards transferring confiscated assets of Russia to Ukraine rather than towards a frozen conflict to prevent an increase in interstate conflicts.

This statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, during a joint briefing with his British counterpart David Cameron in Davos.

"When we hear arguments from some experts or thinkers that Ukraine might consider freezing the conflict, our response is simple: we need frozen Russian assets, not a frozen conflict," said the minister.

Kuleba is confident that this should be the way forward to send a clear signal: if you dare to break the rules, you will have to pay for it.

He emphasized that if this is not clarified now, the number of interstate conflicts and tensions in the world will increase, and the cost of resolving them will be much higher than the cost of assisting Ukraine.
