The III International Artemov Jazz Festival 2026 will take place at the Dnipropetrovsk Philharmonic from October 10 to 23, according to the institution's website.
The festival programme will feature concerts, jam sessions, a lecture-performance and masterclasses. Each performance must include at least one composition by Serhii Artemov, presented in the musicians' own interpretation.
The festival will open with Mike Ievtushenko & Cherkasy Jazz Orchestra. Over nearly two weeks, audiences will hear performances by Oleksii Movchan Ensemble, the Polish-Ukrainian Sarnecki & Zakus Quintet, vocalist Yuliia Roma and Stepan Dudko's Big Band.
The festival will conclude with an original programme by Crimean Tatar pianist Usein Bekirov, accompanied by Dnipro Big Band. A special programme for younger audiences has also been prepared by Funk Orchestra for Teens.
Serhii Artemov, a jazz musician and composer from Dnipro, was killed in combat near Bakhmut in April 2023.
Born on October 12, 1993, in Dnipro, Artemov played bass guitar and double bass and was a co-founder of the jazz ensemble Vibe Trio.
At the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, he volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving under the call sign "Musician". He fought with the 17th Separate Tank Brigade and participated in the liberation of Kherson region. Artemov was posthumously awarded the Medal "For Military Service to Ukraine".
