The Delta Pilot branch of the State Enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) has begun operational dredging works in the waters of the port of Izmail.
The works are being carried out in the operational area of the berths, in sections where it is necessary to restore the design depths in order to ensure safe vessel entry, cargo handling operations, and the ability to accommodate vessels with maximum drafts and ship convoys, the USPA press service reports.
“The port of Izmail plays an important role in the operation of the Ukrainian Danube cluster. Maintaining proper depths near the berths is a necessary condition for safe navigation, efficient cargo handling, and the stable operation of port infrastructure,” the authority added.
The works are scheduled to be completed within two months.
