The Ukrainian DTEK group and Danish Vestas, a leading global manufacturer of wind turbines, have signed an agreement to build the second phase of the Tiligulska Wind Power Plant in the Mykolaiv region. The €450 million project was announced in Davos in the presence of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Ukraine's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko, European Commission Commissioner for Energy and Housing Kadri Simson, and Danish Minister for Industry, Business, and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov.
"The construction of the Tiligulska Wind Power Plant, set to become the largest in Eastern Europe, marks a significant step toward Ukraine’s National Energy and Climate Plan, strengthening the country's energy security and advancing economic decarbonization. This project, supported by Denmark’s Export Credit Agency and the Danish Government, is a strong signal to partners and investors that now is the time to invest in Ukraine’s recovery," said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
The second phase will feature 64 wind turbines with a total capacity of 384 MW, provided by DTEK in collaboration with Vestas. The first phase, with a capacity of 114 MW, was commissioned in 2023.
Together, the first and second phases of DTEK Tiligulska WPP will comprise 83 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 500 MW. The plant will generate approximately 1.7 TWh of electricity annually, sufficient to meet the needs of around 900,000 households.
The project is also expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 1.7 million tons annually.
