During the massive Russian attack on Kyiv on January 2nd, one of the missiles hit a hospital where Ukrainian military personnel were undergoing rehabilitation. The enemy missile did not explode, but its warhead got stuck in the floor of the medical facility.
"In the morning of January 2, Major General of the Medical Service Anatolii Kazmirchuk, the commander of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, received a report that during the shelling of Kyiv, a part of the downed enemy missile hit one of the medical institutions in the city where Ukrainian defenders undergoing rehabilitation were located. In an urgent manner, the commander, along with an operational group, went to the scene," stated the report from the Command of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.It was revealed that a part of the building had been damaged, but the fragment of the enemy missile did not explode. None of the patients or staff were harmed. However, a part of the missile's warhead got stuck in the floor on the first floor.
A decision was immediately made to evacuate severely wounded patients to another medical institution. The remaining patients were transferred to safe areas within the medical facility and provided with care. Sappers removed the warhead of the enemy missile, and all other large fragments were cleared from the territory of the medical institution. The damaged roof of the building was covered with a special tent.
Currently, the affected medical facility is operating in its regular mode.
